For the fourth time in WWE history, the Royal Rumble will be heading to San Antonio, Texas on January 28. The Alamodome, celebrating 30 years, will host the event

The annual event is traditionally one of the biggest and most anticipated WWE shows of the year. It features both a men’s and women’s Royal Rumble match, with 30 participants in each bout. The last person standing in both Rumble matches earns an opportunity at a championship at WrestleMania 39 in April.

Cody Rhodes, who tore his right pectoral tendon in June 2022, will return and compete in the men's Royal Rumble match. Will there be any surprise entrants in both Royal Rumble matches?

Outside of the Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns defends the Undisputed WWE Universal Title against Kevin Owens. It is the third match at a Royal Rumble event between the two. Owens beat Reigns in 2017, while Reigns beat Owens in 2021. Additionally, Bianca Belair defends the RAW Women's Title against Alexa Bliss.

Below you will find everything you need to know about WWE Royal Rumble 2023, including the start time, updated match card, updated betting odds, and more!

Explaining Royal Rumble format, rules

To enter the Royal Rumble match, 30 wrestlers are assigned a spot in the match at random. The first two participants kick things off, and after one-minute or 90 second intervals (it can vary by year), another wrestler comes out. That continues until all competitors have entered the match.

There are no pinfalls, DQ's, or submissions. To eliminate an opponent, you must toss them over the top rope and both of their feet must touch the floor. The only way to win is by being the last person in the ring by the end of the night.
