WNBA rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese didn't leave their rivalry at the college level.

The pair are bringing their fierce brand of competition to their new stomping grounds. The No. 1 overall pick in Clark and No. 7 pick in Reese are in the thick of the Rookie of the Year race, and they're gearing up for their second meeting against one another — at least at the professional level.

Yet the two aren't strangers, which is no secret. They brought fans one of the best NCAA championship games in recent history when they battled for the 2023 title. Reese came out on top, but the fireworks lit the spark for their on-court rivalry and off-court stardom.

The duo have faced off six times heading into the June 16 game between Clark's Fever and Reese's Sky — once in the WNBA and five times in college.

Reese has the edge, with four wins in six meetings, but the last two have gone to Clark. Here's a breakdown of each of those matchups, in reverse chronological order.

Fever vs. Sky – Saturday, June 1, 2024

The Fever were arguably the underdogs in the first matchup between Clark and Reese, as Indiana had won just one game to that point. But Clark's squad fought for a 71-70 win, their second of the season.

Clark recorded 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Indiana's first home win of the year, while Reese had eight points, 13 rebounds and one assist.

Iowa vs. LSU – Monday, April 1, 2024

A rematch of the 2023 NCAA championship game, Iowa and LSU went head-to-head in the Elite Eight during the 2024 tournament.

The Hawkeyes had a chip on their shoulder — and they prevailed, avenging their title loss from the previous season with a 94-87 victory. Clark led the way with 41 points and 12 assists in another record-breaking game as she scored nine 3-pointers, tying an NCAA tournament single-game record.

In Reese's final collegiate game, she posted an impressive double-double with 17 points and 20 rebounds.

Iowa would go on to lose the title game to an SEC foe yet again, but this time around to South Carolina.

Iowa vs. LSU – Sunday, April 2, 2023

LSU captured its first ever title with a 102-85 win over Iowa.

Clark's 30-point game wasn't enough to overcome the Tigers, who had four players score at least 15 points. Reese herself had 15 points and led the way defensively with 10 rebounds.

The best part? Reese gave fans one of the most memorable moments in college basketball history.

Iowa vs. Maryland – February 14, 2022

Before Clark and Reese met in the 2023 title game, they were conference rivals during Reese's time at Maryland. The 6-3 forward transferred to LSU after her sophomore season.

In their lone matchup in the 2021-22 season, Reese contributed a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds to help the Terps to an 81-69 victory.

Clark had 19 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Hawkeyes in their final regular-season loss of the year.

Iowa vs. Maryland – March 13, 2021

In her freshman season at Maryland, Reese played just 15 games due to a foot injury. She did appear in the Big Ten tournament championship game, though, notching six points and six rebounds to help the Terps to a convincing 104-84 win over Iowa and the conference title.

Clark put up 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Hawkeyes in her first title game, the only conference championship game she would lose.

Iowa vs. Maryland – February 23, 2021

Clark and Reese faced off for the first time on February 23, 2021, when Reese played for Maryland. While an earlier game between the teams was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the two schools still managed to fit in one regular-season matchup.

The Terps won 111-93 despite Clark's 34-point, seven-assist game. Reese added eight points for her squad.

Clark has lived up to the hype as the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft.

While the 22-year-old guard had her moments of struggle, such as scoring just three points in the Fever's blowout loss to the Liberty on June 2, she leads all rookies in scoring so far this season.

Clark joined Sabrina Ionescu as the only players in league history to record 150 points, 50 rebounds and 50 assists through their first 10 games. Clark also became the fastest player to reach 200 points and 50 assists, doing so with just 12 games under her belt.
