The United States men's national team held tight with one of Europe's best teams on Friday, ending things on level terms with England.

It was a game that didn't quite live up to the billing, but still proved to be an enthralling affair. The Americans looked the better side for periods of the game. But as was the case against Wales, they lacked that cutting edge to cause problems in front of the Three Lions' goal.

It was an encouraging performance, but it could certainly have been a better result. Now, many Americans are left wondering: has the United States done enough to seal its spot in the knockout stage. Or is it destined for another premature trip back home?

The Sporting News details Group B's forecast after all of Friday's results.

Is USA out of the World Cup?

The U.S. found itself in fairly solid ground heading into Friday's match. With Iran claiming a 2-0 win over 10-man Wales earlier in the day, Gregg Berhalter's side entered the England game knowing it could still make it to the Round of 16, regardless of result.

Friday's draw did nothing to change that. The United States still finds itself in control of its knockout fate. A win against the Iranians on Tuesday ensures that the Americans will move on to the Round of 16. Anything less than that will send Berhalter and company back home with another frustrating exit.
