The 2022/23 Premier League season will be an unusual one because of the break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which takes place in Qatar in November and December.

This will be the first season in which the action will resume eight days after a World Cup final, but other traditions will remain. The release of the Premier League fixtures (see complete list) in June allows fans to start plotting the next nine months anew.

The 17 clubs which return to compete in 2022/23 will be joined by three promoted sides. The two clubs that earned automatic promotion from the Championship will provide familiar stadiums for supporters to visit, as Bournemouth and Fulham both bounced back in 2021/22 after being relegated the previous season. It's been a longer wait for Nottingham Forest, which is back after a 23-year absence.

Newcomers to the scene will include incoming Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, fresh from scoring 86 goals in 89 games for Borussia Dortmund. Here are the dates to look out for.

When do the fixtures come out?

Fans had to wait less than a month between the final day of the 2021/22 season and the release of the 2022/23 Premier League fixtures.

The schedule was released by the Premier League on June 16, 2022 at 9 a.m. BST / 4 a.m. ET.

Check out all 380 matches on the schedule, kicking off Friday, Aug 5 through Sunday, May 28.

When does next season start?

Adjusted to accommodate the World Cup, the 2022/23 Premier League season will start eight days earlier than the previous campaign.

The first fixtures will be scheduled the weekend of Fri, Aug. 5 through Sun, Aug. 7, giving players a break of around two and a half months from the previous season's Premier League action.
