Manchester United injury news: Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay updates ahead of Atletico Madrid clash

Rangnick-FTR

Following an enthralling 3-2 victory over Tottenham in the Premier League, Manchester United are back in Champions League action on Tuesday night when they host Atletico Madrid.

The sides are level at 1-1 from the first leg and ahead of the game interim manager Ralf Rangnick has some concerns about who will be available.

Here's the full rundown and updates from the current squad:

Luke Shaw

  • Injury: COVID-19
  • Out since: March 2

Shaw was out of action because of Covid, but the defender has returned to training and is in contention to be included in the matchday squad against Atletico.

Rangnick revealed prior to the game that it still isn't certain that Shaw will be involved. As reported by The Mirror, Rangnick said: "As it is right now, we have all the players available for the game tomorrow, there is a small question mark behind Luke Shaw."

Scott McTominay

  • Injury: Calf
  • Out since: Mar. 7

The Scottish midfielder has been struggling with a calf problem, but he is also back in training and could return to the matchday squad as United face Atletico.

Bruno Fernandes

  • Injury: Covid-19
  • Out since: Mar. 12

Fernandes wasn't involved against Tottenham after testing positive for Covid-19, but the Portuguese midfielder is likely to be involved against Atletico after returning to training.

Speaking on Monday, Rangnick said: “Yesterday he tested negative and that’s the reason why he could train today.”

Eric Bailly

  • Injury: N/A (previous ankle injury)
  • Out since: Last minutes Dec. 30

Bailly has been on the bench in recent games but hasn't played for United since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations. The Ivory Coast international will hope that he will soon be able to force his way back into the starting lineup for Rangnick's side.
