World Series of Poker 2022 recap: More Wins for Jeremy Ausmus & Adam Friedman, plus Million-Dollar PLO Winners

The 2022 World Series of Poker continued for another week, and another batch of winners picked up coveted WSOP gold bracelets.

Let’s take a look at who those winners are and what they won this week at the 2022 WSOP.

Tong Li Wins Huge PLO High Roller for $1,467,739

Tong Li from Shanghai, China, bested the 264-entry field in Event #19: $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller to win a monstrous $1,467,739 in prize money. It was Li’s first WSOP cash.

Li said after that he loves pot-limit Omaha and plays a home game weekly with friends. He added that he’s happy to be taking home some extra bragging rights to the game.

At the live-streamed final table, Li had to get through start-of-day chip leader Fabian Brandes, reigning WSOP Player of the Year Josh Arieh, and bracelet winners Sam Stein and Scott Ball.

Mike Jukich Turns $1,500 Into $966,577 in Monster Stack

The WSOP $1,500 Monster Stack tournament is always one of the most popular events of the series, and this year was no different with 6,501 entries generating a prize pool of more than $8,600,000. The biggest beneficiary was Mike Jukich, who won the event for $966,577.

The final table was live-streamed on PokerGO and created one of the most entertaining final tables to air on PokerGO, including an absolutely epic way for Jukic to win it. Jukich hit a miracle two-outer against Mateusz Moolhuizen in heads-up play and then finished things off on the next hand.

More WSOP Gold for Adam Friedman

In Event #22: $10,000 Seven-Card Stud Championship, it was Adam Friedman winning his fifth WSOP gold bracelet. Friedman topped the tough field of 95 entries to win a first-place prize of $248,254.

At the final table, Friedman got through Jean “Prince” Gaspard, Phil Ivey, Yuval Bronshtein, Ben Diebold, Marco Johnson, James Paluszek, and Yueqi “Rich” Zhu on his way to the winner’s circle.

Jeremy Ausmus Picks Up Fourth WSOP Gold Bracelet

Also adding to his bracelet total was Jeremy Ausmus, who won Event #23: $3,000 6-Handed Limit Hold’em for $142,147. The win gave Ausmus his fourth WSOP gold bracelet. In the event, Ausmus topped a field of 213 entries to get the gold.

“I feel great about my game,” Ausmus said after the win. “I feel better than ever about it. You know, all the winning makes you feel like that, but I feel like I’m just making better decisions. I’ve worked hard and it’s just kind of paying off, and I’m running good.”

Robert Cowen Wins $50,000 PLO High Roller

The pot-limit Omaha stakes were kicked up for Event #28: $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller at the 2022 World Series of Poker, and the event drew a field of 106 entries. Robert Cowen emerged victorious for $1,393,816 in prize money.

It was Cowen’s second WSOP gold bracelet after he won Event #80: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed for $280,916 at the 2021 WSOP.

At the live-streamed final table, Cowen defeated Dash Dudley in heads-up play, with Ben Lamb taking third, Veselin Karakitukov finishing fourth, and Jared Bleznick busting in fifth. Jason Mercier, who was making his return to the WSOP in Las Vegas, fell just short of the TV final table when he busted in sixth place.

Other WSOP Winners Include Lehner, Coleman, and Weinman

Those listed above weren’t the only WSOP winners from the last week, as plenty of players picked up gold bracelets.

Stefan Lehner won Event #16: $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $558,616, Denis Nesterenko won Event #20: $1,500 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw for $108,250, Christopher Chatman won Event #24: $1,000 GGPoker Flip & Go for $187,770, Rajaee “Rob” Wazwaz won Event #25: $800 NL Hold’em Deepstack for $358,346, and Jonathan Cohen won Event #26: $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship for $245,678.

In Event #27: $1,500 NL Hold’em Shootout, it was Michael Simhai taking home the gold and $240,480. Maxx Coleman and Daniel Weinman also picked up gold bracelets, with Coleman winning Event #29: $1,500 NL 2-7 Single Draw for $127,809 and Weinman winning Event #30: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha for $255,359.
