There are only two games on the NHL schedule for Wednesday, and TNT is the home to both.

The network is bringing fans the Avalanche vs. Penguins game before treating them to a nightcap of Oilers vs. Coyotes.

Colorado enters play on Wednesday in the midst of a dogfight for the Central Division. The Avs sit behind only the Stars and the Wild for the lead in the division, but not by much. Nathan MacKinnon and Co. are riding a six-game winning streak.

On the other side of the ice is MacKinnon's pal and fellow Cole Harbour, N.S. native, Sidney Crosby. Crosby and the Penguins have struggled over the last few weeks, dropping four in a row heading into Wednesday. Pittsburgh has slipped out of a playoff spot, as Florida passed the club earlier in the week.

After the game, Connor McDavid and the Oilers host the Coyotes in Edmonton. McDavid hit the 130-point threshold last week, becoming the first player since Jaromir Jagr in the mid-90s to reach that milestone. He's helped Edmonton win four in a row and the club is third in the Pacific.

Meanwhile, the Coyotes seem to have forgotten the whole tank for Connor Bedard thing. Arizona has ripped off four wins in its last five games, and is slowly distancing itself from the rest of the clubs at bottom of the standings.

Here is what you need to know to watch the NHL on TNT on Wednesday.
