Week 15 was a profitable one for the chalk, as favorites boasted a strong 10-4-2 ATS record. The week began with the Raiders (-3) covering with ease in a 63-21 win over the Chargers and continued into the rest of the weekend with most favorites covering the closing number in a sweat-free fashion. Interestingly, in the three instances where underdogs covered the spread, they all won outright, with the biggest ATS underdog, the Buccaneers (+4), posting the largest margin of victory (14 points).

The slate looks a bit different in Week 16, as the holiday weekend features a doubleheader on Saturday and a tripleheader on Monday. Things kick off with the 7-7 Rams (-4) hosting the 7-7 Saints in a pivotal game in the playoff race, leading into a pair of AFC tilts (Steelers-Bengals, Chargers-Bills) on Saturday. Sunday's must-see games feature the Lions-Vikings, Browns-Texans, Buccaneers-Jaguars, and Cowboys-Dolphins, while all three matchups on Christmas Day (Chiefs-Raiders, Eagles-Giants, 49ers-Ravens) offer some intrigue.

Below, we'll look at the latest odds for Week 16 from Caesars Sportsbook and offer up a couple of early bets to consider. Keep in mind these lines will move throughout the week as we get updates on the playing status of key starters and betting limits increase.

NFL best bets for Week 16

*Odds and analysis as of Monday 12/18*

Texans -2.5 (-110) vs. Browns

DeMeco Ryans' crew showcased their resilience in a gritty overtime road win without C.J. Stroud (concussion), and with the Rookie of the Year frontrunner likely back under center this week, we'll lay the short number and back the Texans at -2.5 (-110). The Browns have been on the right side of some one-score game luck this year, but we don't think that carries over against the ascending Texans.

Buccaneers PK (-110) vs. Jaguars

It's all part of the gamble, but we're attempting to get ahead of the market should Trevor Lawrence miss this week's game after being put in the concussion protocol. If Lawrence can't clear the protocol in time for Sunday's matchup, Tampa could close near the -4 range with backup C.J. Beathard in line to start. If Lawrence does indeed clear the protocol, Jacksonville is going to close as road favorites, but given how tough it has been for players to clear the protocol in one week, we'll take a shot at getting some CLV with the Buccaneers at PK (-110).
