Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was involved in a single-car accident on Monday afternoon, the team has confirmed per multiple reports.

Garrett was taken to a hospital after the crash, along with a female passenger who had been with him in the vehicle. Both suffered "minor, non-life threatening injuries" during the ordeal, per Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland.

Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the accident occurred when Garrett swerved to avoid an animal in the road. He then overcorrected on the wet road and the crash ensued.

Garrett's crash occurred near Wadsworth, Ohio around 3 p.m. ET, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol officials. During the incident, Garrett's 2021 Porsche "went off the right side of the road and flipped several times before coming to a rest."

The 26-year-old Garrett had attended Browns practice in Berea earlier in the day and was presumably returning home from practice at the time of the accident. Wadsworth is roughly 30 miles from Berea.

Both Garrett and his fellow passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, per WKYC, and neither drugs nor alcohol contributed to it.

The car was severely damaged in the crash, per photos from WKYC.

Garrett's agent Nicole Lynn released a statement regarding her client on Twitter Monday night:

While we are waiting to learn the extent of [Garrett's] injuries, he has been alert and responsive. The Garrett family would like to thank the medical personnel that got Myles and his passenger out of the vehicle and safely transported to the hospital.

The good news is that Garrett was discharged from the hospital on Monday night, per Pelissero. For now, Garrett and his family are just "thankful" that his injuries are "not more serious."

The Browns organization also released a statement on Garrett's accident, saying they were "thankful that Myles, his passenger and no other parties were seriously injured in the single-car accident [Monday]."

The Browns added team doctors found a shoulder sprain, a bicep sprain, and some "lacerations," but stopped short of confirming or denying Garrett's availability for next Sunday against the Falcons at 1 p.m. ET.

According to the Browns, they will be monitoring him throughout the week as they try to determine if he'll be able to play.
