To no one's surprise, Caleb Williams was the first name off the board at the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday night.
The Bears snagged the USC quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick, resetting the team's timeline just three years after it selected Justin Fields in the first round of the draft. Chicago expects Williams to become a franchise cornerstone capable of turning the Bears into a legitimate NFC contender.

Williams is coming off a season in which he threw for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns and just five interceptions for the Trojans. USC jumped out to a 6-0 start, but it lost five of its last six regular season games despite Williams' individual brilliance.
Things could be different in Chicago, though, with Williams surrounded by pro talent. Bears fans are hoping that the 22-year-old will finally bring some stability to the most important position on the field — and give them a jersey worth wearing for the next several years.
