Every season there are dozens of NFL players who go down with season-ending injuries. Here's a look at some of the key guys expected to miss 2017 due to injury.
Odell Beckham
The Giants wideout suffered a fractured ankle in a Week 5 game against the L.A. Chargers.
J.J. Watt
The Houston defensive end was ruled out with a tibial plateau fracture during a Week 5 Sunday night game against Kansas City.
Whitney Mercilus
The outside linebacker suffered a torn pectoral in the same game that the Texans lost J.J. Watt.
Haloti Ngata
The 33-year-old defender suffered a torn bicep during a Week 5 game against the Carolina Panthers.
Tyler Eifert
Tyler Eifert's truncated season came on an end after Week 5, when it was revealed that he would undergo back surgery for the second time in less than a year.
Dalvin Cook
The rookie running back was the second leading rusher in the NFL when he suffered a torn ACL in Week 4.
Darren Sproles
The Eagles revealed on Sept. 25 that the running back had a broken arm and torn ACL, ending his 2017 season after three games.
Chris Carson
Seattle running back Chris Carson suffered a broken ankle in a Week 4 game against the Colts.
Brandon Marshall
The New York Giants wide receiver announced via instagram that he was undergoing season-ending ankle surgery. He injured the ankle in a Week 5 loss to the L.A. Chargers that dropped the Giants to 0-5 for the year.
Allen Robinson
The Jaguars top receiver tore the ACL in his left knee in the season-opening game at Houston.
Kevin White
The injury-plagued Chicago receiver suffered a fractured scapula in the season opener, sending him to IR for the third time in as many seasons.
Eric Berry
Eric Berry ruptured his Achilles tendon in the Kansas City Chiefs' season opener against the New England Patriots. His tendon ruptured in the fourth quarter of the game, and he was carted off the field. The safety had signed a six-year, $78 million contract with the Chiefs in February. Berry has missed time in his career before, having torn his ACL in 2011, and being diagnosed with cancer in 2014.
Jason Verett
The Chargers revealed on Sept. 23 that the defensive back would have season-ending knee surgery.
Julian Edelman
Julian Edleman tore the ACL in his right knee in the Patriots' preseason game against Detroit in August. Edelman, one of the reigning Super Bowl champions' main wide receivers, went to the ground after attempting to cut upfield with the ball.
Jerrell Freeman
The Bears are uncertain if inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman will play again this season. One of the team's two defensive captains, he suffered a pectoral injury in Week 1 and was placed on IR ahead of surgery.
Ryan Tannehill
Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill missed the end of the 2016 season with a partially torn ACL in his left knee, and had been trying to fully recover ever since. Yet in the preseason, he reinjured his knee and then opted to have reconstructive surgery that will sideline him for the season.
Dominique Easley
The Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle tore his ACL in the first week of training camp.
Spencer Ware
Running back Spencer Ware went down in the first quarter of the Chiefs' third preseason game. It was later discovered that Ware tore his PCL and suffered LCL damage in his knee.
Marshal Yanda
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said following a Weeks victory over Cleveland that Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yanda is out for the 2017 season with a broken ankle.
Quincy Enunwa
Wide receiver Quincy Enunwa suffered a bulging disc in his neck during a team scrimmage in early August. The injury, while not career-threatening, did require season-ending surgery. Enunwa was the Jets most experienced receiver after catching a career-high 58 passes for 857 yards and four touchdowns last season.
Tyler Ervin
The kickoff and punter returner for the Houston Texans, Ervin suffered a torn patellar tendon in Week 4.
Nick Fairley
Defensive tackle Nick Fairley was placed on season-ending in June after discovering that he had a heart issue. Fairley had consulted with at least three specalists in the offseason before both he and the Saints decided it was best for him to miss the season to avoid putting him at risk.
Cameron Meredith
Chicago wide receiver Cameron Meredith suffered a torn ACL and a slight MCL tear in his left knee in the Bears preseason game agaisnt Tennessee. The injury required season-ending surgery.
Chris Conley
Chiefs wide receiver Chris Conley was carted off in Week 5 after rupturing his Achilles' against Houston.
Kenneth Dixon
Running back Kenneth Dixon suffered a bucket-handle meniscus tear in his knee while training over the summer. The injury required a full repair, and is expected to take four-to-six months to recover. He will miss the entire season.
Markus Golden
A torn ACL in Week 4 has cost the Cardinals their outside linebacker, who a year ago had 12.5 sacks and 51 tackles.
John Kuhn
A fullback for the Saints, John Kuhn tore his biceps during the trip to London and underwent surgery on Oct. 8.
Dwayne Harris
The Giants lost their primary kickoff and punt returner to a broken foot in Week 5 (2016 file photo).
Denzelle Good
The Colts placed their starting right tackle on injury reserve on Sept. 13 with an undisclosed injury.
