Norway's Espen Jorstad topped the second-largest WSOP Main Event field ever to win the 2022 WSOP Main Event for $10 million and the world championship gold bracelet. Jorstad topped the 8,663-entry field to capture poker's biggest title.

The win gave Jorstad his second WSOP gold bracelet after he won the $1,000 Tag Team event earlier in the summer alongside teammate Patrick Leonard.

2022 World Series of Poker heads-up battle: A fateful duel

Jorstad, 34, is a native Norwegian but currently resides in London, England. Known mostly for online cash games, he does occasionally dabble in tournament play, with 20 WSOP online cashes to his name. Now he's got the biggest tourney cash in the game, something he has yet to fully grasp.

"I think [its] going to mean more in a few days when it sinks in," Jorstad said. "Right now, it just feels absurd. I was so focused on this match. I came in today to just play poker. I didn't think too much. I tried to not think too much about what was at stake here, what we were playing for, and whatnot. I was just trying to play the best poker."

In the end, it was Jorstad against Adrian Attenborough heads-up for the gold. Jorstad got the best of the one-on-one match when Attenborough called off with two pair against Jorstad's full house, and it was all over. For Attenborough — an Australian who has been living in Las Vegas for a couple of years — second place was worth $6,000,000.

"My opponent, Attenborough, was the one guy I didn't want to meet heads up," Jorstad said. "He's the one that's been giving me the most trouble the whole tournament. I remember on Day 6 as well, I was like, he kept winning every pot against me, and I was like, get this guy out of here. Then I end up heads up with the guy and I was like, 'Oh, not like this.' But I kept making good hands, fortunately. So, yeah, cards just fell in my favor today."
