College football Week 9 picks: Gators or Dogs? Pickers go head to head

Since 1990, Florida has beaten Georgia 19 times in 25 meetings.

The Bulldogs hold the all-time edge in the series.

WEEK 9: SN's latest Top 50 player rankings

Our celebrity pickers are pretty close to the rivalry. Corey Brewer won back-to-back NCAA Tournament championships for Billy Donovan's Gators in 2006 and 2007. John Isner won the ITA All-American championship in singles in Fall 2005 and the NCAA doubles title in Spring 2005 at Georgia.

Both athletes are playing their respective sports right now - Isner is playing singles and doubles in an ATP tournament in Brasel, Switzerland, while Brewer scored five points and grabbed seven rebounds in Houston's season-opening loss to Denver on Wednesday night.

"Georgia wants revenge on last year's debacle," says Isner, who was in Jacksonville last season to watch Florida's 38-20 victory. "It was miserable."

Brewer has a positive vibe for his Gators.

"Georgia is slumping a bit, but I think they will put in a decent performance for this game," he says. "However, our strong defense should be able to slow them down without Nick Chubb. So I'm feeling good about this one.

"Georgia is one of our rivals I really can't stand, along with FSU, so we better win this."

LINEMAKERS: Latest Heisman Trophy odds

West Virginia at TCU

West Virginia at TCU

When: Thursday, 7:30 p.m.

TV: Fox Sports 1

The line: TCU (-14)

Bender: TCU 48-35

Bradley: TCU 47-28

Brewer: TCU 49-37

Griffith: TCU 41-26

Hayes: TCU 52-17

Isner: TCU 45-24

Jones: TCU 41-17

What we're saying

Hayes: A midweek homegame on national television and days before the first College Football Playoff poll. That and it’s Trevone Boykin vs. a rapidly declining WVU defense.

Oregon at Arizona State

Oregon at Arizona State

When: Thursday, 10:30 p.m.

TV: ESPN

The line: Arizona State (-2.5)

Bender: Arizona State 35-34

Bradley: Arizona State 38-34

Brewer: Arizona State 40-30

Griffith: Oregon 30-28

Hayes: Arizona State 46-33

Isner: Oregon 34-31

Jones: Arizona State 27-24

What we're saying

Hayes ASU’s big-play pass game vs. Oregon’s shaky defense: 44 percent of Sun Devils’ QB Mike Bercovici completions are for 10 or more yards, and 16 percent have gone for 20 or more.

Ole Miss at Auburn

Ole Miss at Auburn

When: Saturday, noon

TV: ESPN

The line: Ole Miss (-7)

Bender: Ole Miss 31-30

Bradley: Ole Miss 27-21

Brewer: Ole Miss 28-20

Griffith: Ole Miss 24-21

Hayes: Ole Miss 26-24

Isner: Ole Miss 27-24

Jones: Ole Miss 30-21

What we're saying

Bradley: So Ole Miss held A&M to three points, 192 total yards and 6 of 20 third downs last week? No doubt Sean White has gotten better each week at QB for Auburn, but if he doesn't start throwing some TD passes (Auburn receivers have to catch them ...) soon, the final five-game stretch (minus Idaho) could get rough. The Rebels frustrate Malzahn's offense enough and we're still waiting on Muschamp's defense to make a significant stop.

USC at Cal

USC at Cal

When: Saturday, 3 p.m.

TV: Fox

The line: USC (-6)

Bender: USC 48-41

Bradley: USC 40-30

Brewer: Cal 31-28

Griffith: Cal 30-27

Hayes: USC 34-23

Isner: USC 34-19

Jones: USC 38-30

What we're saying

Hayes: USC took a major turn mentally last week with a big win over Utah. This is still the most talented team in the Pac-12, and will have a significant impact on the division races.

Clemson at N.C. State

Clemson at N.C. State

When: Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

TV: ABC/ESPN2

The line: Clemson (-10)

Bender: Clemson 44-27

Bradley: Clemson 41-27

Brewer: Clemson 41-20

Griffith: Clemson 27-20

Hayes: Clemson 33-21

Isner: Clemson 31-30

Jones: Clemson 37-24

What we're saying

Bender: Some might see the Textile Bowl as another trap game for Clemson. The Tigers, however, build more momentum for their matchup with Florida State with a convincing win on the road. This could be very similar to Florida State's win at N.C. State last season.

Florida vs. Georgia

Florida vs. Georgia

When: Saturday, 3:30 p.m., Jacksonville

TV: CBS

The line: Florida (-2.5)

Bender: Florida 28-24

Bradley: Florida 24-20

Brewer: Florida 28-20

Griffith: Florida 30-27

Hayes: Georgia 16-13

Isner: Georgia 38-20

Jones: Georgia 24-20

What we're saying

Brewer: This is the big one for us. We have had the bye week to prepare and I feel like Treon Harris will get it done again for the second year in a row against Georgia.

Isner: Underdogs are generally good in this matchup over the years.

Jones: UGA is desperate for this win. Their season is completely over with a loss. UF and their D is going to have to bring their “A” game, which I think they will. This will be a close one with a ton of emotion, but I think UGA wins in a “Dawg” fight.

Oklahoma State at Texas Tech

Oklahoma State at Texas Tech

When: Saturday, 3:30 p.m.

TV: ESPN

The line: Oklahoma State (-3)

Bender: Oklahoma State 38-31

Bradley: Oklahoma State 44-38

Brewer: Texas Tech 55-42

Griffith: Texas Tech 38-35

Hayes: Oklahoma State 41-35

Isner: Texas Tech 48-41

Jones: Oklahoma State 47-41

What we're saying

Griffith: The Red Raiders are back home after a pair of road games for an ESPN against Mike Gundy’s undefeated Cowboys. A jacked-up home  “blackout” crowd and a national television audience should provide enough added incentive for a mild upset.

Michigan at Minnesota

Michigan at Minnesota

When: Saturday, 7 p.m.

TV: ESPN

The line: Michigan (-13.5)

Bender: Michigan 20-17

Bradley: Michigan 23-13

Brewer: Michigan 24-20

Griffith: Michigan 27-14

Hayes: Michigan 28-9

Isner: Michigan 34-13

Jones: Michigan 24-10

What we're saying

Bender: Jerry Kill's retirement adds an emotional element to this primetime game, and the Wolverines better be ready for the Gophers' best shot. One big turnover could make the difference, and the Wolverines take advantage to reclaim the Little Brown Jug.

Griffith: Smash-mouth football here. The Wolverines are coming off a bye and look to win back the Little Brown Jug the Gophers took with a 30-14 win in Ann Arbor last season. Jim Harbaugh comes dressed for this Halloween game as himself.

Notre Dame at Temple

Notre Dame at Temple

When: Saturday, 8 p.m.

TV: ABC

The line: Notre Dame (-10)

Bender: Notre Dame 31-17

Bradley: Notre Dame 30-26

Brewer: Notre Dame 31-20

Griffith: Notre Dame 34-23

Hayes: Notre Dame 27-24

Isner: Notre Dame 30-17

Jones: Notre Dame 31-20

What we're saying

Bender: Temple ranks eighth in the nation in scoring defense, so DeShone Kizer will have to make the most of his opportunities. It would be a surprise if the Owls led at halftime, but the Irish keep rolling with the help of a few big plays by Will Fuller.

Stanford at Washington State

Stanford at Washington State

When: Saturday, 10:30 p.m.

TV: ESPN

The line: Stanford (-12.5)

Bender: Stanford 41-31

Bradley: Stanford 45-20

Brewer: Stanford 41-31

Griffith: Stanford 31-17

Hayes: Washington State 36-33

Isner: Stanford 34-31

Jones: Stanford 37-24

What we're saying

Griffith: Washington State is better than you think, but so is Stanford. The Cardinal have been no treat for the Cougars, having won seven in a row in this series. On Saturday, Stanford will pound out an eighth straight.
