Duke vs. NC State final score, results: DJ Burns continues NC State's cinderella run into Final Four

The Wolfpack keep on howling.

Behind DJ Burns Jr. and DJ Horne, No. 11 NC State is heading to its first Final Four since 1983. The Wolfpack defeated No. 4 Duke 76-64 to win the South Regional Final.

Burns and Horne, also known as the “DJ Booth,” led a dominant second half for NC State, outscoring Duke 55-37. Burns had 29 points on 13-of-19 shooting, while Horne added 20 points.

Duke’s Jared McCain led the Blue Devils to a six-point first half lead, but they couldn’t keep up with NC State’s efficient offense in the second half. McCain finished with 32 points. Kyle Filipowski finished with 11 points and nine rebounds before fouling out with 4:52 remaining.

Duke led the free throw battle for the majority of the game, and even made more free throws (21) than field goals (19).

NC State will play No. 1 Purdue on Saturday, April 6 at 6:09 p.m. ET.

7:34 p.m.: Horne hits two free throws to seal NC State's 76-64 win over Duke to reach the Final Four for the first time since 1983.

7:29 p.m.: Burns may have put an end to this game with another and-1. He puts the Wolf Pack back up 13 with under a minute to go.

7:26 p.m.: McCain isn't ready to end Duke's season. He knocks down another 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 10. NC State leads 68-58 with 1:05 remaining.

7:19 p.m.: NC State breaks the press, and Burns finishes with the and-1! He drains the free throw as the Wolf Pack leads 65-52 with 1:55 left.

7:17 p.m.: NC State is closing in on its first Final Four berth since 1983 when the Wolf Pack won the National Championship. The Wolf Pack lead 62-51 with 2:02 remaining.

7:06 p.m.: Burns spins off the post and floats in a two. He's up to 23 points as NC State leads 58-46 with 3:54 to go.

7:05 p.m.: Filipowski fouls out with 4:52 remaining in the game. Duke will have to win without their star center.

6:57 p.m.: O'Connell makes a 3-pointer and Middlebrooks was fouled in the process, resulting in an extra possession. Burns capitalizes and scores to put the Wolf Pack up 53-42 with 6:41 to go.

6:55 p.m.: Kevin Keatts is called for a technical foul for extending outside the coaching box. The referees previously called NC State out-of-bounds, but replays showed Duke touched it last. Keatts was reacting to the call when penalized.

6:51 p.m.: Horne hits a mid-ranged jumper from the baseline to put the Wolf Pack up 48-40 with 8:19 to go. It's the largest lead for NC State.

6:48 p.m.: Filipowski picks up his fourth foul with 9:49 remaining. NC State leads 44-38 after Middlebrooks hits both free throws.

6:44 p.m.: NC State is shooting 9-of-12 from the field in the second half as it takes the 42-38 lead over Duke with 10:42 remaining. Duke is shooting 4-of-13 this half.

6:39 p.m.: Burns and Horne score back-to-back jumpers to put the Wolf Pack up 40-38 with 11:39 left.

6:37 p.m.: Filipowski and-1! The sophomore center converts the free throw to put Duke back up 38-36 with 12:41 remaining.

6:36 p.m.: The Wolf Pack take the 36-35 lead on Horne's two free throws. It's NC State's first lead since 8-7. 

6:33 p.m.: Horne nails a contested 3-pointer in transition to cut the Duke lead to just 35-34 with about 13 minutes to play. Horne is up to 10 points.

6:26 p.m.: Diarra slams home a dunk off the feed Horne. NC State trails 33-29 with 15:11 to go.

6:23 p.m.: Burns and Filipowski trade buckets from the post to open the second half.

FIRST HALF: Duke 27, NC State 21

6 p.m.: Neither team has found much rhythm on the offensive end. NC State is shooting 26.5 percent from the field, while Duke is shooting 30.8 percent.

5:56 p.m.: Taylor converts his and-1 to cut the deficit to six points with about 1:20 remaining.

5:51 p.m.: Duke leads the free throw battle by a large difference so far in the first half. The Blue Devils are 9-of-9 from the line, including McCain going 7-of-7. NC State is just 1-of-2 on free throws.

5:48 p.m.: Middlebrooks blocks Filipowski, who then turns the ball over to O'Connell on a pass. O'Connell goes the distance for the layup. Duke leads 23-18 with 4:15 remaining.

5:41 p.m.: Duke is up 21-14, its largest lead thus far, with 6:52 remaining in the first half.

5:35 p.m.: Horne banks in a triple from the corner!

5:33 p.m.: It's McCain vs. Burns right now. McCain knocks down another triple to reach 11 points, while Burns has eight points. Burns just picked up his second foul and is now on the bench with under 10 to go in the half. Duke leads 15-11.

5:25 p.m.: McCain is fouled on the 3-point line and makes all three free throws to up his total to eight points. Duke leads 12-9 with under 13 minutes to play in the half.

5:18 p.m.: McCain knocks down a transition 3-pointer to break Duke's three-minute scoring drought. Blue Devils lead 7-6 with 14:25 remaining.

5:13 p.m.: Burns is up to four points, both on mid-range jumpers to give NC State the 4-2 lead in the first two minutes of play.
