No. 8 Duke is in the hunt for an ACC title, and the Blue Devils play a key conference game at Miami on Wednesday.

Duke has gotten a huge boost from Jared McCain, who set a freshman record with eight 3-pointers and tied a school freshman mark with 35 points in a 76-67 victory over Florida State on Saturday.

McCain's 3-point performance tied the mark of JJ Reddick, and his point total tied Zion Williamson's 35-point performance against Syracuse in 2019.

Duke has now connected on at least one 3-pointer in 1,214 straight games, the second longest streak in the nation.

Jeremy Roach scored 15 points for Duke, which extended its winning streak to four games. The Blue Devils (20-5 overall, 11-3 ACC) have 20 or more wins for a 27th straight season.

Tyrese Proctor was not available because of a concussion but could be back in the lineup against the Hurricanes.

Miami is struggling and has lost four straight games. The Hurricanes were beaten, 85-77, by Boston College on Saturday.

Fourth-year junior Norchad Omier and junior Matthew Cleveland had 20 apiece for their 11th and fifth 20-point games of the season, respectively.

Two other Hurricanes — Bensley Joseph (13 points) and Wooga Poplar (12 points) — finished with double-digits in scoring.

Miami shot 50 percent from 3-point range, converting 10 or more threes (13) for the 13th time this season.
