The penultimate race of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season was perhaps its most dramatic. With three of the four places in the season-ending championship race up for grabs, the tension was thick at Martinsville Speedway.

When the dust settled, Christopher Bell, Ross Chastain and Chase Elliott joined Joey Logano in the final four.

Here's a breakdown of the drivers who will be competing for the Cup Series crown on Nov. 6 at Phoenix Raceway, as well as the championship rules and the race's start time.

Who are the NASCAR Championship 4 drivers?

Joey Logano

The 2018 Cup Series champion was the first driver to punch his ticket to the Championship 4. He has at a near the top of the pack in most playoff races this season and stands as good a chance of capturing a second series title.

Chase Elliott

Despite being the youngest member (26) of the Championship 4, Elliott boasts perhaps the most impressive resume. He nabbed a Cup Series championship in 2020 and has 18 career wins, with five of them coming in 2022. Elliott has two more wins than any other racer this year, and he finished the regular season as the series points leader.

Christopher Bell

Bell has a flair for the dramatic. His come-from-behind victory at Martinsville represented his second walk-off win of the postseason. He advanced to the Round of 8 with a win in the cutoff race at the Charlotte Roval. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver is a threat at Phoenix; he has two top-10 finishes at the track.

Ross Chastain

The Trackhouse Racing driver made one of the greatest moves in Cup Series history at Martinsville to get into this round. He slid up to the wall on the last lap, ran wide open and nipped Denny Hamlin at the start-finish line. He has had by far the best season of his Cup career; his previous best season finish was 20th.

What are the rules for the NASCAR Cup Series championship race at Phoenix?

The race will consist of three stages and 312 laps on the 1-mile track. The top finisher among the four championship drivers will win the Cup Series title. Points totaled during the regular season and playoffs are not applied.

If a non-playoff driver wins Sunday's race, the title will go to the playoff driver who finishes the best among the Championship 4 drivers.
