One of the biggest success stories in combat sports history, Conor McGregor’s name goes beyond MMA. The “Notorious” one has built an empire outside the octagon, and he has shown no signs of slowing down. 

The Irish fighter learned how to protect himself when he was 12 at the Crumlin Boxing Club. Turning pro in 2008, McGregor made an impact with Cage Warriors before joining the UFC in 2013. 10-4 with the promotion, McGregor’s outspoken attitude has made him one of the most marketable fighters in UFC history. 

The first double champion in the UFC, McGregor has recently focused on brands outside of fighting and his acting career. However, he still has the itch to compete. 

Since 2016, McGregor is 3-4 in the octagon and is on a two-fight losing streak. In a trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier in 2021, he lost via TKO and also broke his tibia. Undergoing surgery, McGregor has slowly been preparing for a return to the octagon.

Outside of fighting, McGregor has made about $600 million following the sale of his majority stake in his Proper No. Twelve whiskey brand.

Conor McGregor’s career earnings

As per The Sports Daily, when he joined the UFC in 2013, McGregor made about $76,000. Beating Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight title in 2015, McGregor took home $580,000. Against Nate Diaz, McGregor made more than $1 million in the first fight and $3 million in the second fight. Beating Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title and becoming a double champion, McGregor earned between $5-7 million. 

Competing in a boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather in 2017, McGregor made about $100 million. That fight propelled him into superstar status. 

Inactive until 2018, McGregor made about $3 million against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Against Donald Cerrone in 2020, McGregor was guaranteed $5 million. 

In a rematch against Dustin Poirier in January 2021, McGregor made about $5 million. He took home about $200,000 when they first fought in 2014. In the trilogy bout in July, where McGregor lost but got injured, he got another $5 million.

Conor McGregor’s endorsements

McGregor has made endorsement deals with Beats by Dre, Monster Energy, Reebok, Bud Light, and Burger King. 

He signed a fashion partnership with David August, providing suits (branded "August McGregor") to young adults. 

The UFC has bought into McGregor’s Proper No. Twelve, as the brand is all over UFC programming, including on the canvas inside the octagon.

McGregor has maintained an active and often outspoken presence on social media in the past few years.

McGregor has 15 million followers on Facebook, 9.9 million followers on Twitter, and 46.2 million followers on Instagram.

Recently, McGregor donated $1 million to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, which provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, McGregor paid for and opened houses for homeless families in Dublin. He also delivered $1.4 million in Personal Protection Equipment for medics across Irish hospitals. 

After McGregor lost to Poirier in January 2021, he stuck to his promise and donated $500K to Poirier’s Good Fight Foundation charity.
