And then there were 30 29.

With Will Zalatoris withdrawing from the FedEx Cup playoffs due to a back injury, the field vying this weekend for a massive purse and the right to be called "Best on the Tour" has dropped from 30 to 29. Even with Zalatoris' absence, there are plenty of stars competing at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler began the Tour Championship with a two-stroke lead under the tournament's unique format. His advantage had ballooned to six strokes by the end of the third round, but he's trying to fight off a charging pack on Sunday.

Also of intrigue is Open Championship winner Cameron Smith competing in the PGA Tour's playoff finale. Smith has been rumored to be joining the LIV Golf Series following this tournament. News reports over the weekend indicated the rumors were true.
