He may have not finished the day hoisting the sterling silver Wanamaker Trophy, but it was still quite the weekend for Michael Block, who went from unknown club pro to household name with a glimmering display at Oak Hill Country Club.

Block etched his name into tournament lore with a top-15 finish, the best finish for a club pro in the tournament since 1986. His par-saving putt on 18 kept him at 1 over for the tournament — and that was enough to secure a spot in next year's PGA.

The 46-year-old made Rochester, N.Y., his playground over the four days capturing hearts with the hole-in-one he cleanly sank on the 15th hole Sunday. And although he didn't win, he earned more than his fair share of spoils as a result of his play.

How much did Michael Block win at PGA Championship?

Block bagged a cool $288,333 for his efforts at Oak Hill. He tied with Eric Cole and Tyrrell Hatton for 15th place, so he received the average of the earnings for 15th, 16th and 17th place. That amount is far better than his prior career earnings, which Spotrac valued at $7,960.

Block's payout may pale in comparison to winner Brooks Koepka's $3.15 million haul, but irt's still a healthy chunk of change. And it was far more money than big-name golfers like Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson made.

Per the PGA Tour, Block has earned $326,371 over the course of his professional career. The vast majority of that total — some 88 percent — was Block's winnings in this year's PGA Championship.
