Today's MLB DFS Playbook: Lineup picks, tips for Friday

SP Gerrit Cole, Yankees (@ White Sox). Cole had some early season struggles, but he has scored 34, 25.3, and 28.7 points, respectively, on DK over his past three starts, pitching at least six innings with at least six strikeouts in all three. His season ERA is down to 2.67, and he has 37 Ks across 30.1 innings. The White Sox are finally getting healthy, which is a bit scarier, but they rank just 24th in runs per game this year.

SP Jordan Lyles, Orioles (@ Tigers). I questioned why Lyles was so cheap the last time he pitched, and he delivered 17.7 DK points as he tossed 7.1 innings of two-run ball. It was his second straight start with at least that many points. So, here I am, questioning his price once again as he faces Detroit. The Tigers have the worst offense in baseball, averaging just 2.75 runs per game, which is well behind the next closest mark of 3.17.

C Will Smith, Dodgers (vs. Phillies). Why is Smith this cheap? He is coming off a three-hit, three-RBI game and is now hitting .260 on the year with 16 RBIs. He is 2-for-3 with a home run in a small sample of career at-bats against Kyle Gibson.

1B Christian Walker, Diamondbacks (vs. Cubs). Walker has scored 12 DK points in three of his past five games with three multi-hit performances. He is still only hitting .187, but he has hit the ball hard and does have six home runs and seven doubles already.

2B Whit Merrifield, Royals (@ Rockies). Merrifield appears to be getting it going, riding a three-game hitting streak coming into tonight. It’s easy to love the fact that he is playing at Coors Field tonight with a reasonable price.

3B J.D. Davis, Mets (vs. Mariners). Davis has the third highest xwOBA in baseball, trailing only Mike Trout and Yordan Alvarez. The main difference is that Davis hasn’t gotten the results despite consistently hitting the ball hard. I’ll take my chances that that will change.

SS Royce Lewis, Twins (vs. Indians). Lewis hasn’t lit the world on fire since making his MLB debut, but he’s been solid with a .286 batting average. The problem is that he has zero counting stats, but that won’t continue to be the case forever and he is near the minimum price.

OF Kyle Tucker, Astros (@ Nationals). Tucker has scored 21 and 23 DK points in the past two games and is now hitting .252 with five home runs, seven steals, and 19 RBIs on the year. His price is very reasonable for the high ceiling that he possesses.

MORE PICKS: SP Chase Silseth, Angels (@ A's); C Salvador Perez, Royals (@ Rockies); 1B Trey Mancini, Orioles (@ Tigers); 2B Gleyber Torres, Yankees (@ White Sox); 3B Rafael Devers, Red Sox (@ Rangers); SS Corey Seager, Rangers (vs. Red Sox); OF Josh Naylor, Guardians (@ Twins)
