Two SEC softball heavyweights in Tennessee and LSU are set meet this weekend in a battle that could very well shake up the conference standings. The No. 6 and No. 8 teams in the country respectively, the Lady Vols and Tigers will fight it out over three games in Knoxville.
The Tigers, sitting now at fifth in the SEC, are coming off a 2-1 series loss at home against Auburn. LSU dropped the first and third matchups 3-2 and 3-1, respectively, winning the second matchup 2-0 behind seven solid innings on the mound by Kelley Lynch.
First in the conference, Tennessee is coming off a series win at Mississippi State, taking two of three games but losing the first 9-1. The Lady Vols won the final two games by a 13-4 margin and are heading into their next matchup with momentum at their backs.
Tennessee swept LSU in last year's series, shutting out the Tigers in the first two games of the series by an 8-0 margin and winning the final game 9-2.
