The upcoming boxing match between Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson has been postponed due to Tyson's recent health scare.

The 57-year-old former boxing champion was set to face the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer in a heavyweight bout on July 20. But Tyson experienced a medical issue, described as an ulcer flare-up, on a flight Sunday, which forced the fighters to delay their duel.

A rescheduled date is to be announced next week, Michael Benson of talkSPORT reported.

Why was Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight postponed?

The Tyson vs. Paul fight was postponed due to the medical issue Tyson experienced Sunday on a flight from Los Angeles to Miami.

Tyson endured an ulcer flare-up, which required medical attention on the plane and when he landed. Still, he initially believed he could still fight Paul on July 20 as originally scheduled.

"Now feeling 100% even though I don’t need to be to beat Jake Paul," Tyson said on X.

Tyson's medical team is taking a more conservative approach despite his previous trash talk. He'll recover first before taking on Paul.

"Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flare-up, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover," Tyson said in a statement. “My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s, and I will be back to my full training schedule soon."

Paul and Tyson agreed that it's only fair to fight while both boxers are fully healthy.

"My fans know I don’t want to face Iron Mike at anything but his best, but let there be no mistake — when he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish," Paul said in a statement.

What is the new date for Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight?

There isn't a new date for the Tyson vs. Paul fight just yet, but the event is still expected to be broadcast on Netflix later this year.

A new fight date is expected to be announced on June 7, with AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, still the preferred location, ESPN reported.

When was the last time Mike Tyson fought as a professional?

While Tyson has been out of the boxing scene for some time, he's returning to fight Paul in a professionally regulated match.

Tyson's last professional fight came in June 2005, when he lost to Kevin McBride in six rounds. Tyson ended his career with a 50-6 record and 44 knockouts. The upcoming fight against Paul is sanctioned as a professional bout and will count toward that record.

The former heavyweight champion did take part in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, but that didn't count toward his record.
