After years of waiting for his chance at gold, Dillian Whyte is getting his wish. The interim WBC heavyweight champion will face off against WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on April 23.

Taking place at Wembley Stadium in London, it will be an all-British affair.

Fury made his pro debut in 2008. An English, British, European and Commonwealth heavyweight champion, Fury made himself known when he beat Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 for the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring heavyweight titles. A lineal champion, Fury ended up dealing with personal issues thanks to the use of drugs and alcohol.

He returned in 2018 and has been better than ever. After fighting Deontay Wilder to a draw, he beat Wilder in a rematch in February 2020 for the WBC title. He won the trilogy fight against Wilder in October via knockout to retain the title.

Whyte made his pro debut in 2011. He won the interim WBC heavyweight title in 2019 against Oscar Rivas. He was suspended and stripped of the belt after a drug test but was reinstated shortly after. “The Body Snatcher” lost the belt in August 2020 in dramatic fashion against Alexander Povetkin. Whyte won the title back in March via TKO in what was the final fight of Povetkin’s career.

Waiting a while to face the WBC champion, Whyte sued the WBC. There were also issues when it came to the purse bid. Recently, Queensberry Promotions outbid Matchroom Boxing by offering $41 million for the fight.

“Tyson Fury coming home to fight under the arch at Wembley Stadium is a fitting reward for the No.1 heavyweight in the world following his exploits across the Atlantic in his epic trilogy against Deontay Wilder,” Frank Warren said in a news release. “The fact that this mandatory defense of his WBC title comes against another Brit only adds to the occasion. They are two of the biggest characters in British sport and both normally have plenty to say for themselves.”

Here is a complete guide for Fury vs. Whyte, including the start time, fight card, price, updated betting odds and more. The Sporting News will be providing updates as time goes on.
