Only one man can walk out the undisputed super middleweight champion when Canelo Alvarez defends his status against Jaime Munguia on Cinco de Mayo weekend on May 4. The all-Mexico showdown takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will air on Amazon Prime and DAZN PPV.
Canelo (60-2-2) is considered one of the greatest fighters of this generation and he remains a fixture on any worthwhile pound-for-pound list. The 33-year-old is a four-division world champion and only needed 11 months to become undisputed at super middleweight.
Following a loss to Floyd Mayweather in 2013, a young Canelo only got better, going 18-1-1, with the lone loss an unsuccessful attempt at light heavyweight gold against Dmitry Bivol. In his most recent outing, in September, he scored a lopsided win over Jermell Charlo.
Tijuana-born Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) held super welterweight gold from 2018 to 2019. According to Golden Boy Promotions, the 27-year-old pressure fighter will be the next big thing. In his two most recent fights, the Mexican star scored wins over former world title challengers Sergiy Derevyanchenko (UD 12) and John Ryder (TKO 9).

The co-main event will see Mario Barrios defend the interim WBC welterweight title against Fabian Maidana.
Barrios (28-2) is a former WBA "regular" super lightweight champion. Since suffering back-to-back defeats against Gervonta Davis and Keith Thurman, the San Antonio native scored two wins. In September, Barrios floored Yordenis Ugas twice and claimed the interim title on points.
Maidana (22-2) is the brother of former two-division champion Marcos Maidana. The 31-year-old competes in the U.S. for the first time since 2019 when he knocked out Andrey Klimov. “TNT” is on a four-fight win streak and is coming off a win over Israel Lopez in November.

Brandon Figueroa vs. Jessie Magdaleno

- Belts at stake: Interim WBC featherweight title
Another title fight will be Brandon Figueroa defending the interim WBC featherweight belt against Jessie Magdaleno.
Figueroa (24-1-1) held the WBA "regular" super bantamweight title and later held the full WBC version. Losing the latter to Stephen Fulton, he rebounded with two straight wins, his last contest being a Fight of the Year contender against Mark Magsayo.
Las Vegas-born Magdaleno (29-2) once held the WBO super bantamweight title but lost it after being dropped twice and stopped by Isaac Dogboe. A four-fight win streak was snapped in April by Raymond Ford, who then went on to become a world champion.
Eimantas Stanionis vs. Gabriel Maestre

- Maestre record: 6-0-1
- Belts at stake: WBA welterweight title
Opening the card will be Eimantas Stanionis defending the WBA "regular" welterweight title against Gabriel Maestre.
Lithuania's Stanionis (14-0) is a 2015 European Championships gold medalist. In his most recent outing, in April 2022, the former Olympian earned a split decision win over Radzhab Butaev to win the title he'll be defending.

A four-time gold medalist at the amateur level, Maestre (6-0-1) may have a light pro resume, but the Venezuala's unpaid career included impressive wins over Brian Castano and Carlos Adames. The former Olympian won the interim WBA welterweight title with a highly controversial win over Mykal Fox in 2021. He is coming off a TKO win over Travon Marshall in August.
