As is the case during every IPL season, a few young players have really caught the eye this year, with both bat and ball. One of the most exciting prospects in the bowling department has been pacer Mayank Yadav, who has excelled for Lucknow Super Giants.

The youngster wowed one and all on debut against Punjab Kings when he clocked speeds upwards of 155 kmph, unheard of especially for an Indian fast bowler. However, his season was cut short when he suffered a side strain against Gujarat Titans. He returned against Mumbai Indians, but left the field prematurely once again.

Will Mayank Yadav play for India this year? Reports claim LSG pacer set to earn fast-bowling contract

Just after his debut, there were suggestions from many that India should call the Delhi pacer up for the upcoming T20 World Cup but if the latest reports are to be believed, the BCCI has a different plan for Mayank.

According to Indian Express, the board wants Mayank to be ready ahead of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, for which the Indian team will travel to Australia. They are reportedly keen on adding him to the India 'A' squad which will also go on that tour, as well as handing him a fast-bowling contract which was introduced in the central contract list earlier this year.

In order to ensure he does not suffer further injuries, the BCCI are also willing to work with Ramji Srinivasan at the MRF Pace Foundation to tweak his action, as well as consulting S Rajinikanth who helped Jasprit Bumrah return from injury recently and Troy Cooley, who worked on Pat Cummins after the latter suffered several injuries in the early part of his Test career.

What is Mayank Yadav's record in IPL 2024?
