What channel is the 2022/23 Scottish Premiership on? Canada live streaming details, how to watch SPFL

The 2022/23 Scottish Premiership season is fast approaching, with the first round of matches due to kick off in just over a month's time on the weekend of July 30 and 31.

Livingston will host Rangers in what will be a highly anticipated opening match of the campaign, which will also see four other clashes played on the same day including Kilmarnock vs. Dundee United.

One day later, Celtic will play host to Aberdeen at Parkhead as they hoist up the league flag after a stellar 2021/22 season that saw the Hoops crowned champions under Australian coach Ange Postecoglou's stewardship.

Many sides will feel they have a point to prove in 2022/23, with Hibernian and Aberdeen, in particular, looking to re-establish themselves amongst the Scottish footballing elite after both enduring a miserable time of things last term.

The Sporting News details where Canada-based viewers can catch all of the action once the Scottish Premiership gets underway.

When does the 2022/23 Scottish Premiership start and end?

The Scottish Premiership will start up again on the weekend of July 30/31, which is slightly earlier than usual due to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar starting in November.

Fixtures were announced last week by the SPFL, with Livingston hosting Rangers on the first match of the opening day at 7 a.m. ET on July 30. Celtic host Aberdeen one day later, at 11.30 a.m. ET.

Following the weekend of November 12/13, the Scottish Premiership will break for the World Cup, resuming on December 17, 2022. The final round of clashes in 2022/23 will also be slightly later than previous seasons, finishing on May 28, 2023.

The first Old Firm Derby of the new term will take place on September 3, 2022, where reigning champions Celtic will compete against runners-up Rangers at Parkhead.

Who won the Scottish Premiership last season?

Celtic were the winners of the 2021/22 Scottish Premiership title, finishing four points ahead of bitter rivals Rangers.

Despite suffering three defeats in their first six Premiership matches last term, the Hoops rallied in style and went unbeaten for the rest of the campaign in the league, gaining some pivotal results on the way to what was their 10th championship in 11 years.

Last-gasp victories over Ross County and Dundee United, alongside a domestic double over adversaries Rangers home and away were key results on the road to glory. The Bhoys also dished out several drubbings across 2021/22, including two 6-0 wins at home to Dundee and St Mirren, as well as a 7-0 thrashing of St Johnstone in the last game before the league split.

Postecoglou will hope to add more success this coming season as well as stamp his authority on the UEFA Champions League, where Celtic will feature in the group phase after qualifying directly as Scottish champions.
