  • Spread: Eagles by 2
  • Over/under: 50.5

Vikings vs. Eagles all-time series

The Vikings have a slim lead in their history, 15-14. Minnesota has won two in a row, in 2018 and 2019, to earn that advantage. The Vikings also have won four of the past six meetings.

Three trends to know

—58 percent of spread bettors are siding with the Vikings to cover the small number tied to winning the game outright.

—63 percent of over/under bettors think these offenses will exceed expectations and go above the total together.

—The Vikings were 9-8 against the spread in 2021 and have started 1-0 this season. The Eagles The Eagles were only 7-8-1 against the spread last season and have started 0-1. Before then, the Eagles had won five straight.

Three things to watch

Cousins to Jefferson

Jefferson ripped the Packers for 9 catches, 184 yards and 2 TDs in Week 1 as new offensive-minded coach Kevin O'Connell schemed him open well, often against linebackers and safeties. The Eagles' secondary, led by savvy corner Darius Slay, will need to be more disciplined to keep Jefferson from going off all over the field.

Hurts to Brown

Hurts started slowly passing against the Lions but got into a groove running and throwing downfield once Brown was force-fed the ball for 10 catches and 155 yards. The Vikings need to contain him with Patrick Peterson and others.

The Vikings' new-look defense

Ed Donatell has remixed the scheme from Mike Zimmer using a base 3-4 with Danielle Hunter and Za'Darius Smith becoming ideal bookend edge rushers. The back seven is more active against the pass so Hurts needs to be careful after picking apart a bad Lions secondary last week.

Stat that matters

181. That's how many rushing yards the Eagles gave up to the Lions last week, which almost cost them the game after building a big lead. Dalvin Cook gained 90 yards on 20 carries against the Packers and should be huge in helping to set up good downfield shots from Cousins to Jefferson off play-action.

Vikings vs. Eagles prediction

Minnesota and Philadelphia are real division-winning threats in the NFC. The Vikings look like a more complete and dynamic team and the 1-2 punch of Cook and Jefferson will be difficult to slow down. The Eagles are explosive with their receivers and the running of Hurts, Miles Sanders and others.

The Eagles' defense has some things it must sort out while the Vikings are getting more out of their playmakers. Minnesota steals the game in prime time with Cousins going against his typical night history.

Vikings 31, Eagles 27
