The Russell Wilson trade shook up the NFL world Tuesday afternoon. Vegas has responded and the betting odds for Super Bowl 57 have changed dramatically as a result.

As one might expect, the Broncos' odds to win the 2023 Super Bowl have shortened significantly. Denver now has its best quarterback since Peyton Manning and bookmakers believe the team will be a contender in the 2022 season and 2023 postseason.

The Seahawks are on the less-intriguing side of the coin, at least from a bettor's perspective. They are now considered long shots to win the Super Bowl and are highly likely to finish at the bottom of the stacked NFC West.

What are the odds for the Broncos and Seahawks to win Super Bowl 57? Here's a look at how things have changed since the Wilson trade and whether you should bet Denver to win it all in 2023.

TRADE DETAILS: Broncos give up Lock, massive package of picks for Wilson

How Russell Wilson trade impacted Broncos, Seahawks' 2023 Super Bowl odds

Before the Wilson trade, the Broncos had +2500 odds to win the Super Bowl. That was tied for the 11th-shortest odds to win the Super Bowl with the Colts and the Chargers.

Now, per odds from DraftKings Sportsbook, the Broncos (+1200) are tied with the 49ers for the fifth-shortest odds to win Super Bowl 57. The four teams ahead of Denver and San Francisco all have odds of 10-1 or lower, including the Bills (+650), Chiefs (+750), Packers (+800) and Rams (+1000).

Meanwhile, the Seahawks (+10000) fall on the opposite end of the spectrum. They are tied with the Jaguars (+10000) for the fourth-longest odds to win the Super Bowl. They rank ahead of only the Jets, Lions and Texans, who are all tied with +15000 odds.

IYER: Why the Seahawks won the Russell Wilson trade

Should you bet the Broncos to win Super Bowl 57?

The answer to this question depends upon your level of comfort with two things.

The first is the Broncos' supporting cast. Critics will say that Denver isn't a win-now team, but it had a top-10 defense last season despite key injuries at linebacker and on the edge. It also has strong weapons on offense headlined by Javonte Williams, Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick.

Perhaps you aren't confident that Sutton will stay healthy or that Jeudy will take the next step, but in theory, all of those players should be better with better quarterback play. And Wilson — who has the fourth-best passer rating of all time at 101.8 — is certainly an upgrade over the tag team of Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock.

The second issue will be more concerning for bettors. The Broncos play in what is now, unofficially, the NFL's toughest division. The Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes and have made the AFC championship game in four straight seasons; the Chargers have one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL in Justin Herbert; and the Raiders made the playoffs last year with Derek Carr despite a tumultuous season.

It should still be a wild-card team, at bare minimum, but the AFC is loaded. Even if the Broncos make it out of their division, they will have to get through the likes of the reigning conference champion Bengals and the uber-talented Bills. Add in the well-coached Patriots, Steelers and Ravens, and there's no easy path for Denver to contention.

Betting on the Broncos at 12-1 odds isn't necessarily a bad idea. It's just not the best value given their difficult path to a Super Bowl. Wilson has done it before and he can do it again, but this isn't quite the same as the Bucs getting Tom Brady or the Rams getting Matthew Stafford. The Broncos still have some work to do.

That said, if they add enough talent in free agency and the draft, they could look a lot more appealing. Their odds won't shift too much over the next two months, so it may behoove Broncos bettors to be patient and strike when more is known about the team.

Conversely, bettors could wait until the season to bet on Denver. If the Broncos start the season slowly while they mesh, the odds could lengthen and create a nice value-pick opportunity.
