The LSU women's basketball coach is one of the country's most polarizing, with some holding Mulkey up as an idol in the world of college basketball and others viewing her as one of the sport's seediest competitors.

No matter where you fall on the scale for Mulkey, though, one thing is clear: You know where she is and what she's wearing.

Mulkey is among the most flamboyant personalities in the sport. Whether she's delighting in another successful Tigers basket or gesticulating after a missed call, you can be sure she's doing so in her own unique style.

What did Kim Mulkey wear at the 2024 NCAA tournament?

No. 3 LSU vs. No. 14 Rice (Round of 64)

Mulkey's opening-round fit seemed almost sedate compared to some of her flashier styles. She wore a light blue suit and a pink shirt during what turned out to be a close game for No. 3 seed LSU.

The LSU head coach turned her style up a notch for the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She wore a sparkly, striped suit in bright colors, paired with a yellow shirt and yellow high heels.

Next up, the Tigers face No. 2 seed UCLA in the Sweet 16 at 1 p.m. ET Saturday.

Mulkey showcased her true colors for the Tigers' clash with UCLA in the Sweet 16, strutting across the sideline in another colorful outfit. This piece of attire was adorned with floral print and bright, sparkly tints.

The Tigers will face the winner of No. 1 Iowa's clash with No. 5 Colorado.

Mulkey wanted the luck of the Tigers in a rematch of last year's national championship. She toned down her usual fashion for a a solid green suit and zebra-striped heels. It's especially an usual choice for the coach that's known for going big or going home with her outfits.

The LSU head coach attracted attention for her outlandish outfits throughout the Tigers' run at the 2023 NCAA Tournament, which ended in the program's first national championship.

Mulkey certainly puts her spin on sideline attire, often incorporating feathers, bright colors and interesting textures. That can make her stick out, especially in comparison to some of the more sleekly dressed tacticians in the college game — for example, South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley.

Nevertheless, Mulkey isn't afraid to try something different. She famously donned this garish pink-and-green suit jacket during LSU's Sweet 16 contest last year — you can't miss the neon pink feathers.

Was she a basketball coach or a woman masquerading as a peacock? The world may never know. But perhaps she helped distract No. 2 seed Utah just enough in the Tigers' 66-63 win.

“Look, we’re from Louisiana, we like sparkles, we like diamonds, we like Mardi Gras, we like to eat and we like to party,” she said last March, noting that the outfits speak to her home state.

That's not Mulkey's only eye-catching look. In fact, it's only the tip of the iceberg for the four-time national title winner.

Mulkey has also draped herself in flower petals, Tigers stripes and what may as well be Las Vegas-themed bumper stickers to lead her troops out on the floor.

Her return to March Madness in 2024 could be her highest-profile runway yet. But as she said last year, she wants the main focus to remain on the court as her Tigers seek a second consecutive NCAA title.

“Basketball is the most important part — much more important than what I wear,” Mulkey said. “Yes, my outfits are a little bit more sparkly, but I want to talk about the product on the floor — basketball.”
