Sunday Night Football FanDuel Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 2 Bears-Packers single-game tournaments

The Packers host the Bears at Lambeau Field for Week 2's "Sunday Night Football" contest. The divisional rivalry surprisingly finds Chicago at 1-0 after a wet home victory over the 49ers. The Packers look for their first win after a disappointing season-opening loss in Minnesota. While Davante Adams' offseason trade to the Raiders leaves this matchup with much less star power than usual, plenty of strong DFS lineup plays can be found for FanDuel's single-game contests.

The Packers feature rookie wideouts Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, both relatively cheap DFS options but also quite volatile (Watson dropped a would-be 75-yard TD last week, while Doubs hauled in four-of-five targets but failed to reach 10 yards per catch). With Allen Lazard missing Week 1 due to an ankle injury, Green Bay's top receivers were arguably running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon.

As for Chicago, Justin Fields must find a WR1 in the absence of veteran Allen Robinson. Darnell Mooney figures to be first in line, with Equanimous St. Brown a close second. Like Green Bay, Chicago features a running back committee with David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert..

Let's dive into our FanDuel Single Game Showdown for Sunday Night Football. Here are the notable scoring settings for FanDuel single-game contests:

  • The point total for the "MVP" is multiplied by 1.5, but he doesn't cost any additional money like the "Captain" in DraftKings Showdown contests.
  • FanDuel's default scoring is half-point PPR and four-point passing TDs.
  • Unlike on DraftKings, FanDuel features no bonuses for 300-yard/100-yard games

FanDuel Single Game DFS Picks: Bears vs. Packers Sunday Night Football

$60,000 budget; must roster at least one player from each team

MVP (1.5x points): QB Aaron Rodgers, Packers ($16,500)

We can't go wrong with reigning back-to-back MVP in a home game versus the Bears. The last time Chicago visited Lambeau Field, the 10-time Pro Bowler and four-time MVP recorded 362 total yards and four passing TDs. After the game, he told the world that he owns the Bears. While we aren't quite sure if Rodgers actually holds a financial stake in the organization, he sure does own them figuratively. In 27 career games against the NFC North rival, Rodgers has gone 22-5 with 61 TDs, 10 interceptions, and a 109.2 passer rating. You won't find a better player to assume MVP duties, especially coming off Green Bay's disappointing season opener against Minnesota. Despite awful conditions in Chicago last week, the Bears lackluster secondary allowed two 49ers to score on busted coverage. Expect a big game from Rodgers.

FLEX RB AJ Dillon, Packers ($13,000)

While we tend to prefer Dillon's running mate Aaron Jones, it's starting to look like Rodgers and Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur prefer Dillon. Take a look at the usage and production splits between the backs in the Packers' Week 1 game against the Vikings.

Pack Backs: Week 1 Opportunities/Touches/Fantasy Production
RB Rushes Yards Targets Catches Yards RZ Touches TDs FPts
Dillon 10 45 6 5 46 3 1 20.1
Jones 5 49 5 3 27 2 0 10.6

It's just one week, but still worth noting that Jones saw more opportunities and racked up 15 more scrimmage yards. He also scored the Pack's lone TD. How could we possibly choose Jones at $14,000 over Dillon at $13,000 just days after seeing Dillon get more carries, targets, and fantasy points? Think with your head, not your heart.

WEEK 2 STANDARD RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/ST | Kicker

FLEX WR Allen Lazard, Packers ($12,000)

There are a few reasons why Rodgers and the Green Bay passing offense struggled last Sunday:

  1. Davante Adams no longer plays for the Packers
  2. Green Bay's offensive line is banged-up and rusty
  3. Rookie Christian Watson dropped a would-be 75-yard TD
  4. The Vikings' underrated defense played pretty well
  5. Lazard was sidelined due to an ankle injury

Without question, Lazard will serve as Rodgers' No. 1 target this season if he can stay healthy. He has an established rapport with the four-time MVP and rarely makes mistakes. Since entering the league in 2018, Lazard has 109 catches for 1,448 yards (13.3 per catch). He has never fumbled the ball as a pro, and he logged just one drop in 60 opportunities last season. He totaled eight TDs in '21, and 28 of his 40 catches went for first downs. Rodgers trusts Lazard, and in turn you should trust him on your FanDuel squad.

WEEK 2 DFS LINEUPS: FanDuel | DraftKings | Yahoo

FLEX WR Darnell Mooney, Bears ($11,500)

Like Lazard, Mooney easily serves as his squad's top receiver. He logged nine total TDs over his first two years as a pro and surpassed 1,000 yards receiving in his sophomore season despite Chicago's otherwise-abysmal passing offense. Expect Fields and Mooney to continue building chemistry, likely seeing some positive TD regression and hovering around their 2021 numbers per game (4.8 catches, 62.1 yards). Don't be discouraged by Mooney hauling in just one-of-three targets for eight yards in the Week 1 victory versus San Francisco. Receiving numbers usually suffer in monsoon-like conditions.

WEEK 2 PPR RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/ST | Kicker

FLEX WR Equanimeous St. Brown, Bears ($6,000)

St. Brown hauled in an 18-yard TD last week, and while he didn't do anything else, he was at least on the field for 42 snaps. In better conditions, he should see more targets against his former team. St. Brown isn't a world-beater, but he certainly seems like the best receiving option at $6K or under.
