Corey Allan has been released from the final year of his contract with Canterbury, signing with the Roosters for the 2023 season.

The 24-year-old joined the club at the start of 2021, but managed just three tries in 21 games for the Bulldogs.

Allan was initially brought to Belmore as a fullback, but fell behind the likes of Matt Dufty and Jake Averillo this season and was unlikely to gain a starting spot next year.

The club released a short statement on Thursday morning thanking Allan for his services.

"Corey Allan has been released from the final year of his contract with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, effective immediately," the statement said.

"We thank Corey for his two years of service to the Bulldogs and wish him all the best for the future."

Allan came into first grade with plenty of wraps from his work in the Brisbane system, with many believing he would become South Sydney's long-term fullback following the retirement of Greg Inglis.

His stay at the Bunnies lasted just 29 games, but he did manage to play one game for Queensland in their successful 2020 Origin series victory over NSW.

Allan's next destination has now been confirmed, with the Sydney Roosters announcing a one-year deal for the outside back.

“We’re pleased to welcome Corey to the Roosters," head of recruitment Daniel Anderson said.

"He is a talented player who will challenge for first grade and provide some terrific depth to our squad."
