NRL Power Rankings: Ranking the best and worst club songs in the NRL
It's a pastime as old as the game itself, but some of the NRL club songs have changed a lot over time.
There would probably be a couple of fans who are shocked their club actually has an official team song.
Well, we here at Sporting News are determined to rank them from best to worst.
And it's safe to say, when we say they're bad, they are TERRIBLE!
Slide on to see where your team sits in our count...
Honourable Mention 1 - Illawarra Steelers
This is an absolute classic.
Has a great beat, a real 90s feel and perfect lyrics to sing along to.
Just a shame the team doesn't run around in the NRL anymore...
Honourable Mention 2 - South Sydney Rabbitohs roll call
This truly was a thing of genius from back in the day.
The YouTube description says it all: "it is very addictive."
It wasn't their team song, or official in any way, but it was well worth a mention here.
Listen to the weirdness below.
Gold Coast Titans
This song sums up the club.
"Go, go, go, go"?
More like no, no, no, no.
Just like the Titans this song is lifeless and would be better if it came out of Brisbane and not the Gold Coast.
Newcastle Knights
"Go Hard, Go Knights, Go Proud"
Not a lot to be proud of in this song, we reckon the Novocastrians can do better.
New Zealand Warriors
We don't know what would drive you mad first – listening to this song or watching the Warriors each week?
...it's definitely watching the Warriors, we know.
Thie song has a bit of a Robbie Williams/George Michael vibe about it, just without the star quality.
North Queensland Cowboys
If you had to imagine what the North Queensland Cowboys song sounded like, this is probably exactly what you expected.
Country and Western with an American twang, very Cowboys. But not very good.
Penrith Panthers
This one is truly bizarre. It starts with some old match commentary over the top of the national anthem, which is fairly bizarre.
After that it's not too bad. But we just can't get over the start.
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
Starts off slow, but finishes with a bang.
It's an easy-going song that doesn't do much to inspire the fans, but hey, why change a classic.
Melbourne Storm
No, it isn't the Queensland Origin song!
There's not a whole heap "Stormy" about this song but it does the job.
Brisbane Broncos
It's plain, simple and repetitive, all the signs of a great theme song.
It's got a really strong 90s vibe to it as well, so it can't go wrong.
Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles
If this song was Eagle Rock, it would arguably be number one.
But it's not, and this official theme song (set to the tune of Waltzing Matilda) has some nostalgia, but not a whole heap more going for it.
We do love a song that references a lot of the other clubs though. Great areas.
St George-Illawarra Dragons
I mean it's not unexpected but it's a classic for a reason.
Surely the Steelers one could have gotten more of a run in though...
Parramatta Eels
This earns a high spot for managing to put the word 'tremendous' in a place where it barely fits, but still works?
Set to the tune of click goes the shears, this is an instant classic.
Sydney Roosters
We've now gotten to hear this song belted out on grand final day two years in a row.
There's nothing like hearing the Roosters' 319 fans belting out this number, it's almost moving.
Wests Tigers
Anything ripped off a Rocky movie is alright by us.
Do yourself a favour and have a listen.
South Sydney
'Glory Glory' has been a feature of the NRL for many years, and it even made the top of the ARIA charts in 2014 as the Rabbitohs broke their 43-year premiership drought.
We couldn’t get enough of it.
Cronulla Sharks
Featuring the best piano solo since Crocodile Rock, Up Up Cronulla is everyone's second favourite team song.
Trust us, there's nothing like 15,000 Sharks fans reciting every single word…over and over and over again.
Although seeing ScoMo get involved with the song in the sheds can get a little bit cringeworthy...
Canberra Raiders
Long before the Viking Clap, this number was all the rage in the nation's capital. There's even a rumour Ricky Stuart used it as his wedding song back in the day.
While we didn't get to hear it after grand final day last year, this song is just one of the reasons so many people were on the Green Machine bandwagon in 2019.
