Golden Eagle 2022 result: I Wish I Win claims $10million race at Rosehill

The fourth richest race on turf has been won by I Wish I Win after the gelding held off a strong challenge from Fangirl to claim the $10million race. 

The victory is yet another notch in the successful partnership between jockey Luke Nolen and trainer Peter Moody, with the duo famously linking up with Black Caviar.

At Rosehill, I Wish I Win delivered when it mattered most holding off the late charge from Fangirl which rose from the back of the back and nearly stole the win, while Gypsy Goddess came third.

After finishing second in The Everest, Private Eye went one better in the Nature Strip stakes earlier in the day. The win handing trainer Joe Pride consecutive victories in the race after Eduardo won the 2021 edition.  

Star of India won the Rosehill Gold Cup after holding off the likes of Hezashocka and Bois D’Argent.

Meanwhile, young rider Zac Lloyd got his first win in Sydney when Mars Mission emerged out of the pack and charged late for an impressive victory.

It was also a successful day for jockey Tommy Berry who claimed two wins with Waterford and Pale King.

Waterford has now won four out of its five races in Australia, while Pale King was virtually unchallenged in race four.
