The fourth LIV Golf tournament tees off this weekend at The International in Boston just days after Open Championship winner Cameron Smith defected from the PGA Tour to the polarizing Saudi-backed league. This will be the third LIV event on United States soil and first since the controversial LIV New Jersey at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster. As always, Sporting News has all the odds, best bets, sleepers, and course information you will need to bet on this event.

The news broke about Open Champion Smith on Tuesday, and he automatically became the favorite to win LIV Golf Boston. Ranked No. 2 in the world, the 29-year-old serves as the best player to defect to LIV and, thus, the biggest blow to the PGA. Smith takes with him to LIV Joaquin Niemann, the 23-year-old Chilean and OWGR No. 19 who was set to play alongside Smith at the Presidents Cup.

Let's dive into the full odds board, and pick the best bets to win as well as some top values and sleepers.

LIV Boston: Best bets, sleepers

Cameron Smith ($5.50)

Smith made things easy on oddsmakers the moment he defected to LIV Golf — the OWGR No. 2 easily ranks as the best player on the LIV tour. The Aussie's elite putting, masterful approach shots, and solid around-the-green play all contributed to his SG: Total of 1.433 this season. His three wins on the TOUR this year include the Players Championship, the Tournament of Champions, and the Open Championship, and he finished in the top five in five different tournaments. LIV finally pulled down a true stud in his prime with this guy, and he easily possesses the mindset to fade the noise and win his first event since defecting. Mark him as a strong favorite worth betting at anything better than +400 odds.

Dustin Johnson ($7.00)

Johnson serves as one of the more high-profile LIV names and for good reason. He has a ton of talent, which seems to be stating the obvious given his 24 PGA Tour victories and115 top-10 finishes. Well, now he's making even more money as one of the faces of a brand-new tour. DJ regularly demonstrates proficiency from the tee to the green, which makes it easy to understand why he finished T7 at LIV London, T3 at LIV Portland, and T2 at Bedminster. You can't find much better bets than Johnson here.

LIV Boston: Top value

Henrik Stenson ($34)

A driving and approach shot maestro, the 46-year-old Stenson is probably the best "over-the-hill" golfer on the LIV Tour. The Swede won LIV Golf Bedminster at -11, thanks in large part to nailing fairways and greens throughout the weekend. That will once again be the name of the game at the International, so don't be surprised if Stenson carries over some of that momentum into Greater Boston on Thursday.

Other strong value bets:

  • Branden Grace ($31) — The South African won LIV Golf Portland at -13, and finished T3 at -5 in London. Grace favours unique, sloping courses, so the International should be up his alley.
  • Carlos Ortiz ($34) — The Mexico native finished second at LIV Portland at -11, and fourth at Bedminster at -8. With a well-rounded game, Ortiz always seems like a good bet.

LIV Boston: The International course description, weather forecast

Designed by Geoffrey Cornish in 1957 and redesigned by Robert Trent Jones, the International at Boston is located in Bolton, MA. Lined by immense woodlands filled with endless giant pine trees, the 36-hole course measures a whopping 8,325 yards. It features countless bunkers, vast sloping fairways, and unique drop-down greens that will challenge even the most advanced pro golfers. We should be in for a real treat this weekend, with the weather forecast calling for sunny, partly-cloudy conditions Thursday through Saturday and a chance of rain on Sunday. Highs should hit between 78-84 degrees F (25-29C). With luck, the precipitation won't come until Sunday evening when the newest LIV champion is crowned.
