AFL team songs ranked: 1-18
Some have been around for generations, while others, like West Coast's, are pretty new. Some get the heart racing and the spine tingling, while others... don't.
We're talking club songs and how your team stacks up against the rest.
There's always plenty of debate about where each song ranks, so here at Sporting News, we've put together the definitive list.
Read on to see where your team's song landed.
West Coast
The Eagles called on band Birds of Tokyo for help with this one and it's... a bit ad campaign-y.
Incredibly, it's actually worse when sung by the players after a win. Listen to this abomination.
Also the lyrics in the chorus are pretty dumb. You're here to show us why you're the Eagles? OK?
Fremantle
The Dockers have had several iterations throughout the years.
Unfortunately none of them have been any good.
Gnarly guitars have no place in a footy song.
Port Adelaide
The Power's song was written in 1997 and we must say, it certainly sounds like it.
Adelaide
Our big gripe with this one is that they haven't changed the first "we're known as the Adelaide Crows" to "we're the mighty Adelaide Crows."
Everyone already sings that anyway. If you're gonna tinker, tinker right.
Gold Coast
Sometimes we think it's slightly underrated. That "fight, fight, fight" part is fun, but then they bring us back to earth with that forced "hey!"
St Kilda
A solid, but unremarkable footy song.
Essendon
We can't help but cringe when they say "preeemiership flag". 'Cup' is right there and rhymes with up. C'mon.
An otherwise good listen.
Western Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are one of many teams whose song is much better in its 'in the sheds' form.
"But you can't beat the boys of the Bulldogs breed" when barked after a win is one of our favourite lines in any club song.
Brisbane
Another very strong choice.
A hearty congratulations to the appropriators of the French national anthem.
Geelong
The Cats got a new verse in 2018. Well it's an old verse that they officially tacked on.
It's actually not bad. Good job.
Sydney
We enjoyed the banjo break in the old version but they've ramped it up in 2018 and it has lost some of its quirk.
Ahead of the 2021 season, they changed the lyrics from "while her loyal sons" to "while our loyal Swans" in order to be more inclusive.
Still slaps pretty hard.
North Melbourne
Now, in our books, the matchday version of this is top four quality.
The 'Bohemian Rhapsody' of club songs. What a journey. Will we hear it in 2021?
Carlton
Another beauty. Sounds like a Saturday afternoon.
Hawthorn
Great song.
The matchday addition of "4, 3, 2" before "one for all and all for one" is glorious.
Melbourne
Another classic. A real toe-tapper.
Collingwood
You might not like the Pies but it's hard to deny this is a serious tune.
GWS
A slow burner but this absolutely bangs.
Considering it was made in this century, The Cat Empire's Harry Angus absolutely nailed it with this one.
Richmond
I swear this one is overrated but when you have 90,000 mad Richmond fans belting it out at the MCG, you just can't compete.
